300 meter long ancient ghat being cleared
VADODARA: The work on the ancient ghat of Vishwamitri river near the Kamnath Mahadev temple has cleared 10 steps along the 300m long ghat. The ghat was completely buried under a thick layer of mud deposited there over the years.
The work to clear the ghat was started about three months back manually. But it gained momentum recently when the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) provided excavators for the purpose.
The work on the ghat was taken up in coordination with the Navnath Mahadev Kavadyatra Samiti.
A release from the organisation stated that the ghat was 70m wide and a lot of work still remained. At the other end, the VMC had withdrawn an excavator it had provided earlier slackening the work.
The organisation has demanded that the VMC should either provide them the machines or give it permission to procure its own machines for the purpose. The organisation has also called upon citizens to visit the site and realise the potential it had to be developed as a religious and tourist place.
