The Indian Coast Guard personnel of Tuticorin Station rescued six local fishermen stranded at mid sea. The fishermen were onboard a boat that developed a technical snag. They were safely taken to the fishing harbour here and the boat was towed into the harbour on Thursday night and handed over to Saravanan, the boat owner.

According to a statement, the boat named ‘Muruganthunai Mariselvam,’ was in distress and was retrieved by the Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Abhiraj’ that sailed out to render assistance at the request from Coastal Security Group. After a search for over two hours, ‘Abhiraj’ located the stranded boat six nautical miles off the Tiruchendur coast. The ICG personnel found that the fishing boat had lost its propeller. Food and fresh water were provided to the crew and state of their health was also ascertained.
