MOHALI: Zirakpur residents will now have to pay to get their areas cleaned. This was decided in the Zirakpur civic body meeting, which passed a slew of agenda items on Thursday.
Owners of empty plots, too, will have to pay to get their premises cleaned. Residents will have to pay fee for getting their building plan cleared and no construction fee will be charged.
To take property tax, water bill and sewage bill facilities online, the councillors passed Rs 20 lakh for the project.
It was also decided to use government land near Dayalpura village for constructing a multi-specialty hospital and a private school.
Kulwinder Singh Sohi, president of councillors, said, "This year's annual budget of Rs 64 crore is Rs 10 crore less than last year. As majority of the roads have already been constructed, no excess budget was required for it." The town will soon also get a 100-acre park.
