Dance festival

Shrishti Vishwa Nrithya Utsav 2015’, a mega-dance event, will be held till May 5 across various venues in the City.

The event is organised by Dr AV Satyanarayana, the director of Srishti Center of Performing Arts and Institute of Dance Therapy.

 The  purpose of the festival is to provide a platform to emerging dancers and dance groups.

On May 2, various ‘kathak’ recitals will be held to celebrate renowned dancer Maya Rao’s birthday at Bengaluru Gayana Samaja, KR Road. At 5.30 pm, Tanushree Kundu Pal and at 6 pm, Sakshi Tandon will present kathak performances.

Another kathak performance will be presented by Alakananda Institute at 6.30 pm. At 7.15 pm, there will be a performance by AV Satyanarayana and at 7.20 pm, watch a kathak recital by Shubha Dhananjay. At 7.40 pm, Avinav Mukharjee and at 8.20 pm Alankrita will present kathak performances.

On May 3, various performances will take place at Ravindra Kalakshetra Complex, JC Road. At 5 pm, there will be a bharathanatyam performance by Roopa-Manjula Paramesh and at 5.30 pm, a kuchupudi performance by Vasanti and group will be held. A bharathanatyam performance by Chitra Dalvi will be held at 6 pm.
 At 6.15 pm, a bharathanatyam performance will be presented by ‘Kala Sampada’, CS Veena and at 6.30 pm, Dr AV Satyanarayana will present a one-man recital titled, ‘Mahan Buddha’, which explains the life of Buddha.

Bianca and Nathash Radha Sridhar will present a bharathanatyam performance at 7 pm and at 7.30 pm, a kathak performance will be presented by Pallavi Mukharjee. Watch a classical film dance performance presented by troupes like ‘Nrithya Kala Mandira’, ‘Nattyantharanga’, ‘Apoorva Art Centre’, Roopa, Shiva Priya School of Dance and ‘Nattyangikam’ at 8 pm.

On May 4, bharath­anatyam and kathak performances will be held at Nayana Sabangana, Ravindra Kalakshetra compound.

At 6 pm, Ajay Shendge will present a kathak performance; at 6.30 pm, a bharathanatyam performance will be presented by Bhanupriya Revathi and at 7 pm, a bharathanatyam recital will be presented by Dhanya - Sanjay Shantharam. A bharathanatyam recital will be performed by Durdana Taj Raichur at 7.20 pm; at 7.30 pm, bharathanatyam will be presented by Kavya Kasinathan and at 8 pm, another  recital by Maitri J Madhyastha will be held.

On May 5, bharathanatyam and kuchupudi performances will be held at Nayana Sabangana, Ravindra Kalakshetra Compound. At 6.15 pm, Aishwarya Vijayakumar will present a bharathanatyam performance while at 6.45 pm, Archana Punyesh will present a kuchupudi performance. At 7.15 pm, bharatha­natyam by Aaadrika and at 7.45 pm, a bharatanatyam recital by Natyaangikam will be held. At 8.15 pm, a kuchupudi performance will be presented by Sunanda Prashanth.

The ‘Shrishti National Award for Dance’ will be presented to Pandit Birju Maharaj on May 10, 6 pm, at BR Ambedkar Bhavan, Millers Road.  The award ceremony will be followed by a kathak recital by Pandit Birju Maharaj and Shashwati Sen and troupe.

The entry for the event is through special invitation or donor cards.
