The J&K Residents of Backward Areas (RBA) Forum (JKRF) has alleged violation of the J&K Reservation Act by the State Selection Board (SSB) in its recent advertisement for the posts of Naib Tehsildars and threatens to move court for bringing stay on the process of the recruitment.

Zakir Malik, JKRF president, has also questioned the prescribed qualification for the post and said the SSB had violated the J&K Reservation Act.

“Although there is a set criteria of 20 per cent reservation of seats for the RBA category in employment in J&K, but the SSB has reserved only 13 posts, instead of 27 posts, in the RBA category among the total 134 posts of Naib Tehsildar advertised at S.No 7 of the advertisement notice 1 of 2015, dated April 8, 2015,” said Zakir Malik.

He termed it violation of the Recruitment Act and appealed to the Residents of Backward Areas (RBA) category candidates to get united and fight for justice.

The JKRF president has also questioned the prescribed qualification for the post. He said the prescribed qualification for Naib Tehsildar had been mentioned as “graduation with knowledge of Urdu”, but it was not cleared what kind of knowledge of Urdu was needed.

“The qualification mentioned in the advertisement is just to extend favouritism to blue-eyed persons. There should be clear-cut mention of qualification regarding Urdu and there should be separate test for Urdu-knowing candidates/aspirants,” said Zakir Malik.

He said the JKRF had also sought information under the RTI Act from SSB/Additional Secretary, J&K Revenue Department, about this post and prescribed qualification.

Malik said they would also move court and seek an interim order (stay) on all of the posts advertised vide the notification and would never allow injustice with the RBA.
