Two persons died and seven others were injured when a chhakdo autorickshaw overturned near Devala village in Dhari taluka of Amreli on Thursday early morning.

RAJKOT: Two persons died and seven others were injured when a chhakdo autorickshaw overturned near Devala village in Dhari taluka of Amreli on Thursday early morning.
The deceased along with other passengers had boarded the autorickshaw as there were no buses available due to strike by the state transport employees.
The deceased were identified as Bhupatgiri (55), a resident of Palitana town of Bhavnagar and Savitagri (48), a resident of Kukavav village of Amreli district.
Police said both died on the spot.
The accident took place when the front tyre of the vehicle burst up near Devala village and it overturned.
The injured persons were shifted to hospitals in Dhari and Amreli.
They were part of a group of sadhus returning from Virpur (Gadhiya) village of Dhari taluka after attending a religious programme on Wednesday night.
Popular folk singer Laxman Barot was among the singers at the function and many people from nearby towns attended it.
