Minor raped

A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 40-year-old man under P.M. Palem police station limits in the city on Wednesday night.

The girl and her sister had been staying at their grandmother’s house following the death of their mother two years ago. Their father, who had married another woman, was staying separately in the city.

The weather being sultry, the girls were sleeping along with their grandmother in the veranda of their house. The accused, T. Appalaswami, an ex-convict, who was under the influence of alcohol, carried the six-year-old girl behind the house in the early hours even as her sister and grandmother were fast asleep, and raped her.

The girl started crying and her grandmother noticed wounds on her private parts. The victim revealed that their neighbour Appalaswami had raped her.

On a complaint , Inspector S. Appala Raju registered a case against the accused under Section 376 of the IPC and under various .
