Junior guard Tyrell Henderson, sometimes the forgotten man in Tempe Corona del Sol's fourth consecutive state championship season, gave Portland State a verbal commitment to play basketball.

That gives all five starters on Corona del Sol's championship team future Division I college sports careers.

Senior wing Dane Kuiper signed with New Mexico for basketball, senior forward Cassius Peat is Michigan State-bound for football, and sophomore point guard Alex Barcello and freshman forward/center Marvin Bagley III have multiple Division I basketball offers.

Henderson, a 6-foot-3 combo guard, said he also received offers from Weber State and Northern Arizona University.

"I liked the coaches, the players, the opportunity," Henderson said. "I wanted to get it done now so I can focus on working towards my senior season."

Henderson said he figures he'll take on more of a scoring load next season with Kuiper gone. Henderson averaged about eight points last season, but he was clutch in big games and a defensive stopper.

He performed well this month during the live viewing period for college coaches, playing for Arizona Power Academy with Gilbert Christian's Mitchell Lightfoot and Cameron Satterwhite.

John Ortega, who works Power Academy, called Henderson "Mr. Solid." He was fourth on the team in scoring, second in rebounds, third in assists and third in shooting percentage in tournaments this month.

"He was our glue guy, just like at Corona," Ortega said.
