WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUTH CENTRES IN SD?
Sir,
It seems we constructed the youth centres because we had a lot of money not realising what use we had for them.
We even established the non-active Swaziland National Youth Council (SNYC). If maybe we took that money to give to the elders or do something that will help us as a country it would have been better utilised.
A number of youth centres have changed to become structures for thieves.
They have become white elephants in front of the SNYC and the responsible ministry. I have heard that the relevant ministry will embark on a project of upgrading youth centres and establishing youth regional officers. That would be great indeed.
The youth is doing nothing, which is why they end up being arrested. We would like to see the ministry visiting our biggest constituency at Gege and upgrading the constituency’s youth centre and open an office in the Shiselweni region.
This is the region that is always behind as far as development is concerned. We are tired of white elephant structures.
This ministry is not doing enough where the youth is concerned. Funds that are supposed to be given to the youth and help them aphelela ebaleni.
You ask yourself if the ministry is truly ready to help. Let me appeal to the honourable minister to visit the constituency to see for himself if the youth centres are doing anything for the youth?
We don’t need ministers sitting only in Mbabane. We need people who will be seen working convincingly.
Ronnie Dlamini,
GEGE
