JJ Marg police have arrested a 25-year old-man for murdering his elder brother over a trivial issue on Tuesday. The brothers' mother has told the police that her children had an argument over the spicy food that was cooked at home, and in a fit of rage, her younger son cut his elder brother's throat with a knife.

The arrested man has been identified as Vinod Chiman Waghela, a resident of a slum in JJ Hospital compound.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 10.30 pm on Tuesday. "As per the family, the food that was cooked at home that night was spicy, due to which Vinod had an argument with his elder brother Chetan. The argument got heated, so Vinod took out a knife and slit Chetan's throat," said an officer from JJ Marg police.

Vinod then attacked Chetan's wife Damyanti, 24, with the same knife. Damyanti is the complainant in the case. Chetan was rushed to JJ Hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The officer added: "The family informed the police, and Vinod was arrested immediately. He was produced before court and has been remanded to police custody for seven days."
