Waste Management Slips To Loss In Q1; Backs FY15 Adj. EPS Outlook - Quick Facts

Waste Management Inc. (WM) posted first-quarter net loss attributable to the company of $129 million or $0.28 per share, compared to net income of $228 million or $0.49 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Excluding certain items, net income would have been $227 million, or $0.49 per share, in the first quarter of 2015 compared with $212 million, or $0.45 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Revenues for the latest first quarter dropped to $3.04 billion from $3.40 billion for year-ago period.

On average, 8 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.48 per share and revenues of $3.18 billion for the first-quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For fiscal 2015, the company still expects adjusted earnings to be in the range of $2.48 to $2.55 per share. Analysts expect annual earnings of $2.51 per share.
