INDORE: Cops at Central Kotwali police station on Tuesday cracked April 20 loot of Rs 4.59 lakh from a marketing manager of a private company with the arrest of two men. A sum of Rs 50,000 in cash was recovered from them.
Acting on a tip off, police arrested Mohd Akbar alias Lallu, 25, a resident of South Toda and Wasim alias Hakla, 25, a resident of Kabootarkhana locality and recovered Rs 50,000 out of the loot amount from Vijay Jain in Daulatganj locality on April 20.
Jain was looted while he was returning with cash from company collection. A countrymade pistol and knife was recovered from the arrested duo, Central Kotwali police station in charge Taresh Kumar Soni said.
Remaining amount is now with Imran alias Immu, who is linked to notorious Fauja gang. According to city police sources, police are investigating possible link between Fauja gang and the loot, particularly owing to Imran’s involvement in the crime.
Link of Fauja gang in the loot is also suspected as gang leader Fauja’s sister had made a bulk cash payment to someone, just a day after the loot.
Meanwhile, over 100 traders in city’s Nasiya Road market downed shutters on Tuesday to protest the Monday night Rs 3 lakh loot and attack on ice cream material trader Mahendra Jain. Traders marched to city police control room, where they met with Indore DIG Rakesh Gupta and demanded immediate arrest of accused.
The 45-year-old trader, who also works as an accountant at the Nasariya Dharamshala was attacked by three men armed with knives before looting Rs 3 lakh.
According to SP East OP Tripathi CCTV footage retrieved from cameras installed near the spot of the crime are being scanned to identify the accused.
