IDGC of Centre (part of the Group of Companies "Russian Grids") is embarking on a project to create a power metering system including remote data collection by installing "smart" meters at consumers'. Creating this system is aimed at improving the efficiency of electricity transmission, reducing the cost of purchasing losses, effective control over power consumption and decreasing the cost of meter readings.

The Yaroslavl region has become one of the three regions, selected in the Group of Companies "Russian Grids" for the pilot project implementation. In 11 Distribution Zones of IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division there will be over 120 thousand metering points. According to specialists of IDGC of Centre, building "smart grids" will allow significantly, up to 15%, to reduce losses in those parts of the grid, where the specified program is implemented, and create a more efficient and transparent system of electricity metering. At the same time operational efficiency of IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division will be increased. The project gives consumers the capability to pay for the electricity consumed by zone rates.

The project is financed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) within the financing the project of JSC "Russian Grids" for the construction of "smart grids".

The project of JSC "Russian Grids" for the construction of "smart grids", along with the project of JSC "Rostelecom" "Bridging the Digital Divide", is funded by the Russian Direct Investment Fund from the National Welfare Fund. RDIF created special project companies to implement the projects.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) was founded in June 2011 to implement the equity investments primarily in Russia in cooperation with leading foreign financial and strategic investors.
