Earlier this year, on February 6, filmmaker R Balki entered the theatres with Shamitabh, an experimental drama revolving around two competing artistes, one of them a deaf and mute man. Despite the presence of two talented superstars from two different generations, Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush, the film did not live up to its box-office expectations.

Now, Mirror has learnt that Balki's fourth film will mark his return to romance after Cheeni Kum and that is not all, his leading man this time will not be a Bachchan.

Instead it is a young Kapoor who has come onboard. Arjun Kapoor who opened the year with debutant director Amit Sharma's Tevar, a true-to-convention action-packed love story set in the Northern hinterland, will now team up with Balki for a rom-com.

According to a source close to the development, the writer-director met the actor a month ago and the deal was quickly finalised. "The film will roll this year for sure. Balki who introduced a new face, Akshara Haasan, in Shamitabh, is looking for a more established actress for this film so her dates will have to match. Arjun is really kicked about the project because all his love stories so far Ishaqzaade, 2 States and even Finding Fanny have been intense. This one is a light-hearted love story with lots of laughs and he can't wait to get started."
