SHORTAGE OF TRANSPORT AT GEGE POLICE IS SERIOUS

Sir,

If any department of government is experiencing a shortage of transport, indeed it results in poor service delivery. It’s even worse if that particular department is the police service.

If you are talking of Gege, you speak of a constituency which consists of 11 chiefdoms, it is one of the biggest constituencies in this country.
Our police station has one car to service these areas. It is like the criminal investigation, traffic, general patrol, crime prevention using one vehicle?

Our officers are always seen hitchhiking back to their station from their different assignments, sometimes walking by the road. Are they safe?
If I can sacrifice to drive them to their station, do you think they can arrest me?
No because they won’t have transport anymore. Our officers are dedicated so much that they can arrest a suspect and hire a local bakkie to drive the suspects.

To me that shows the dedication and the love of the job, infact not love but sticking to their slogan, ‘silihawu leMbube nesive’.
But the shortage of transport jeopardises all this, our traffic officers are always seen doing their job in the area but often without the transport.

Offenders

You always ask yourself if there could be offenders, how can they arrest them? A person needs all the necessity equipment to do their duty without fail. Allow me to take my hat off to a certain officer responsible for crime prevention at Gege.

What a police officer, an officer who represents his superiors very well. He is not only a police officer but he plays the role of a father to the youth.
This man is teaching the public about crime prevention. Now the question, or rather the reality says, you can’t teach the youth to refrain from wayward behaviour without suggesting good things they can do.

Guess what? This officer has established a number of projects for the youth, he started singing groups to keep the youth busy.
