ABVP medico wing seeks withdrawal of GO 31

April 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - KAKINADA:

In response to a call given by the State unit of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyardhi Parishad (ABVP), Rangaraya Medical College students staged a dharna at the Government General Hospital here on Tuesday, seeking withdrawl of GO31, that allows the private college managements to conduct separate entrance tests and decide their fee structure.

More than 100 students staged a demonstration and raised slogans, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the order. National convener of the ABVP’s medicos wing Subram said that the government’s decision would benefit the managements of private medical colleges as they could fix the fee on their own.

“The GO is paving way for an increase of free from the existing Rs. 2.4 lakh to Rs. 11 lakh per annum for ‘B’ category colleges and from Rs. 27 lakh to Rs. 2.7 crore in those falling under ‘C’ category,” he said. Stating that similar moves had been failed in Karnataka and Maharashtra, he said that the GO be withdrawn.
