JAMMU, Apr 27: In a major operation, the Forest team assisted by FPF men retrieved nearly 95 kanals of Forest land encroached upon by the some locals in Gandri Range of Batote Forest Division today.
A senior official disclosed that the team headed by Range Officer, Mohd Zaferullah Sheikh, Gandri under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer, Batote – Shahzad Chowdhary, launched a drive for eviction of encroached Forest land in Compartment No. 64 of Bhatni Block of Batote Forest Division and cleared an area of about 95 kanals.
During the eviction process the Forest official faced some resistance from the native villagers, but they successfully evicted the encroached Forest land from the clutches of encroachers namely, Nazir Ahmed and Ghulam Mohi Din of village Kabbi.
Further, a case under Section 6 of Forest Act has been registered against the encroachers for further eventual action.
