Facing increased scrutiny following the launch of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, the Clinton Foundation has acknowledged mistakes on its tax returns in recent years.
In a blog post on Sunday, Clinton Foundation acting CEO Maura Pally said that the charity will likely refile forms for some years after completing an external review.
"Yes, we made mistakes, as many organizations of our size do, but we are acting quickly to remedy them, and have taken steps to ensure they don't happen in the future," Pally wrote.
She added, "We are committed to operating the Foundation responsibly and effectively to continue the life-changing work that this philanthropy is doing every day."
Pally claimed the group accurately reported its total revenue for each year but mistakenly combined government grants with other donations.
The blog also discussed the recent controversy over the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership, a Clinton Foundation initiative established by Frank Giustra, a Canadian mining company owner.
Pally said the group's donors are not listed on the Clinton Foundation's website due to a prohibition under Canadian law and not an effort to avoid transparency.
The Foundation CEO reiterated the group's commitment to transparency, noting that it announced plans to disclose all of its donors on a quarterly basis after Hillary Clinton decided to run for President.
The statement from the foundation comes amid accusations that donors were given influence over State Department decisions while Clinton served as Secretary of State.
Writer Peter Schweizer outlines the allegations in a new book titled "Clinton Cash," although the conservative author acknowledges that he does not have direct evidence of ethical misconduct.
