Football: L.A. University is ineligible for City Section playoffs in 2015

L.A. University has been banned from participation in the 2015 City Section football playoffs for violation of CIF bylaw 220, participation by an ineligible player.

City Section Commissioner John Aguirre said the school used a player during the 2013-14 season who did not live in the University attendance boundary and the same player in 2014-15 was ineligible again because he had already used up his four years of high school eligibility.

As a result, University will forfeit all football games the past two years, will be ineligible for this fall’s playoffs and has been fined $300 for 2013-14 and $300 for this year. The school’s football program was placed on two years probation.

University is the second City Section team declared ineligible for this year’s playoffs because of an ineligible player. Hawkins also won’t be allowed to play in the playoffs.
