Chittoor killings case: DGP orders hand-over of records to SIT

The government has set up an eight-member SIT to probe the killings

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Jasti Venkata Ramudu on Monday directed that all the records pertaining to the killing of 20 people in Seshachalam forest be handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

"Today the DGP directed the superintendent of police Tirupati (urban) to hand over all the records pertaining to the incident of firing by Red sanders anti-Smuggling Task Force in Seshachalam Forest Area on April 7, 2015 in Chittoor district to the SIT, to enable a comprehensive investigation under the supervision of Dr Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, IG," a statement from Ramudu's office said.

The government has set up an eight-member SIT to probe the killings.

Based on a complaint filed by Muniyammal, the wife of Sashi Kumar, one of the victims, police have registered FIR under sections 302 (murder) and 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) of the IPC against "unknown" personnel of the task force.
