So Mercedes-Benz is building a pickup truck, right? Alright then, how about a competitor from Audi, based on the 2015 Prologue Allroad Concept?
For now, Audi has no intention of getting into building pickups, but the automotive world still has plenty of time and resources to prove us wrong. Until that day comes, we're happy to bring you a couple of renderings revealing how an Ingolstadt-built pickup would look like.

But there's no reason for high-life aspiring rednecks to jump for joy just yet, as the two pictures you're about to see don't come from Audi. I mean sure, they're official photos of the Audi Prologue Allroad prototype, skilfully manipulated by Theophilus Chin.

This also makes Mercedes-Benz the only premium carmaker determined to build a pickup for the time being. However, since their premium pickup truck was officially confirmed and rumors say it's a competitor for the Amarok, would it be that awful if the VW Group responded with an Audi pickup?

Moreover, if the Mercedes ute will borrow plenty of features from the brand's S-Class and GLE models, is it too far fetched for Audi to adapt A8 styling cues with Q7 traits in order to deliver a rival for the Stuttgart pickup?

Well, that's up for serious debate but if you ask the undersigned, anything is possible. Just think about how SUVs and crossovers were born and how the entire pool of carmakers started building at least one for their lineups.

We absolutely loved the Audi Prologue Allroad Concept at Auto Shanghai, and Theophilus Chin's renderings are looking as fresh and crisp as they come, but there's a question bothering us: does the industry really need a premium pickup segment? What do you think?
