A 26-year-old police constable working with the Ramanathapuram armed reserve police committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train on Monday morning.

MADURAI: A 26-year-old police constable working with the Ramanathapuram armed reserve police committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train on Monday morning.
Raghuvaran, son of Gunasekaran of Tiruvadanai, was a bachelor. He had been on medical leave for the last one month and did not join for duty even after the leave period came to an end.
Raghuvaran left home on Monday morning informing his family members that he was going to meet his seniors.
He reached Ramanathapuram, and from there he went to Valuthur village, situated around 25 kms away.
He stopped his two-wheeler at a railway level crossing and jumped in front of a speeding train.
The railway police registered a case and were investigating. They said the reason for the suicide was yet to be known.
