HiQ SIMPLIFIES EVERYDAY LIFE

It's easy to talk about simplicity, the difficult thing is simplifying. Our industry has been living with this challenge for a long time. Simplicity is a keyword at HiQ, as we create services to improve and simplify people's lives. Just think of how easy it is to submit your income tax return or transfer money using your smartphone. We believe that IT that simplifies equates with quality. Simplicity is the innovation of our time.

We live in a world in which innovative IT-based services and products have improved the everyday lives of people. We see for example how social media help to bring about the downfall of dictatorships, how communication channels evolve and how very valuable IT has become for individuals, companies and organisations.

We take on the challenges with enthusiasm and expertise. We listen to our clients. We are the specialists who can get to grips with the intricacies of technology and the clients requirements and there to propose the simple solution. As a result, we create services and products that improve and simplify people's lives right in the midst of the adventure that we call IT.

WHO DOES HiQ COLLABORATE WITH?

HiQ actively works with different collaborations and unique activities. We want to be seen in contexts which, like us, are synonymous with speed, teamwork, high technology, openness, joy and the will to win. Our collaborations also serve as a good platform for activities with customers and employees.

Dregen

Rock star & entrepreneur

Today, digital solutions are a business critical part in all industries, and the music industry has received great attention for the challenges in finding new ways to distribute music and earn money. HiQ works with many companies in this area and is also digital partner to Dregen - Sweden's biggest rock star.

HiQ and Dregen have collaborated for several years and as a digital partner HiQ works with developing Dregen's digital platforms to help him reach out to his fans. In the beginning of 2014 Dregen launched his new modern website, created by HiQ. Dregen is also a familiar face at HiQ's many events, such as our rock school and the Knowledge Bar, where he spreads energy and inspiration and plays with the HiQ band HEO. When the music video for "Just like that" was to be made, Dregen chose HiQ's offices as the location - below is a video behind the scenes of the shoot!

Richard Göransson

HiQ's own motor sports star.

As a specialised IT consultancy firm, HiQ works with leading customers in the automotive industry in areas such as Infotainment and Active Safety. Motorsport is a technology-intensive team sport, with IT increasingly playing a part in performance, safety and contacts with fans and the media. Richard Göransson's career started at the age of ten with go-cart and through hard work he has since established himself in the elite of racing and rally.

HiQ supports Richard both on the race track and by together creating thrilling activities to share with our clients and employees.

The Maths Centre

Maths is the first step.

At HiQ we believe that it is important that young men and women discover and learn to understand mathematics at an early age. Both for their own sake as well as to secure competence for the future. Therefore, we work with the non-profit organisation Mattecentrum ("The Maths Centre").

At no charge Mattecentrum helps over 120 000 children and youths to improve their skills in maths. This is done partly through open workshops, where HiQ employees are among the volunteers, but foremost by the online study tool www.matteboken.se (matteboken is the Swedish word for "The maths book"). Matteboken offers theory, video lessons, and excercises, with complete maths books from the Swedish A-E maths courses. Matteboken also contains a forum where users can ask questions.

Who knows, one of the thousands of young people getting help from Mattecentrum might work for HiQ one day?

HiQ Sailing Team

2002-2008 HiQ had a very successful collaboration with the sailing project HiQ Sailing Team. HiQ Sailing Team, the well-known 60-foot trimaran and one of the fastest sailing boats in the world, has broken a number of records through the years. Among the most spectacular were the events of December 2006, when HiQ Sailing Team sailed around Gotland in a new record time of 17 hours 39 minutes - at an average speed of nearly 21 knots!

The trimaran has given us amazing experiences with both customers and staff, a great deal of pride and attention. It has been a true journey writing record history together.

    • Dregen co-founded Backyard Babies and Hellacopters, and with both bands he has had hit songs and won several Swedish Grammy awards
    • Has toured the world with legendary bands such as Kiss and AC/DC
    • Releases his first solo album and an autobiography in 2013
    • As of 2011 Dregen also plays with Finnish rock legendary Michael Monroe, from the cult band Hanoi Rocks
    • European Champion in FIA European Touring Car Cup
    • European Champion in Formel Ford
    • 4 National STCC titles (2004, 2005, 2008, 2010) as well as a silver and a bronze medal
    • On the STCC podium 61 times in 123 races
    • In 2010 Richard won his fourth STCC title. This makes Richard the most successful driver in STCC.

ONE OF THE FASTEST SAILING BOATS IN THE WORLD.

HiQ is one of the fastest sailing boats in the world. In good conditions the boat can sail faster than 40 knots - last year's speed record was 41,6 knots. The boat is 60 feet long, 20 meters wide and weighs around 5 tonnes. The sail area is very large compared with the size of the boat, making the vessel quick and light on the rudder, but an advanced craft to sail - the Formula 1 of sailing. The new trimaran HiQ is one of the fastest sailing vessels in the world and has successfully sailed in competitions such as the ORMA, Jaques Vabre and Route du Rhum.

The project had backing from HiQ and co-partners Klabbe Nylöf, Andreas Andersén and Pelle Norberg. Together they form a very strong team who have accumulated many merits in the Whitbread, Volvo Ocean Race and other major international competitions.

Non-Hit Car & Truck

- simpler, safer driving

Challenge
While driving a car you are constantly exposed to hazards in the form of, for example, other road users and wild animals. Remaining alert to all of these hazards unaided is not always an easy task.

Assignment
Helping the client Volvo Cars to make use of advanced technology to create solutions that mean that the vehicle itself is able to detect the hazards that can occur in traffic and on the road. These solutions are to contribute to the vision that by the year 2020 there will be no fatalities or serious injuries to anyone travelling in a Volvo car.

Solution
As part of the four-year "Non-Hit Car" project, HiQ is playing its part as principal partner in developing technology that will provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle's surroundings. The car is now equipped with cameras and radar sensors around its entire body in order to detect possible dangers.

Result
An all-round view of the car's immediate surroundings is a key component in efforts to realise Volvo Cars' commitment to a zero vision in terms of serious accidents. The ability to identify and detect hazards in good time will enable drivers to avoid accidents and make driving a Volvo both simpler and safer.

Digital learning aid for iPad

Assignment
Helping Natur & Kultur to make learning interactive and fun for school children aged 7 to 10, and for their teachers.

Challenge
When the access and comprehension of digital communication becomes a question of democracy and a critical tool to be a part of society, our school system is one of the first places where children can be given this understanding. Our challenge was to create an interactive educational tool that could work practically in a school environment and cater to different styles of learning.

Solution
The solution presented was "The Isle of Qnodds" (Qnoddarnas Värld) - a learning aid with a sense of gamification, developed directly for the iPad. In "The Isle of Qnodds" each pupil has its own login and can furnish their own "stump", which is their own home in the program. When the pupils log in they see new exciting tasks that their teacher has activated, everything from exercises with letters to narrative texts or geometry - all in an inspiring and educational setting.

Result
Today "The Isle of Qnodds" is used in many schools all over Sweden. HiQ's client Natur & Kultur has received overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the solution.

Swish

- a solution for mobile payments

Attn. The video above is only available in Swedish.

Assignment
To create a mobile solution for simple real-time financial transactions between private individuals for Sweden's six largest banks in cooperation with Bankgirot.

Challenge
To free users from bank card readers and the hassle of entering the recipient's account number by pioneering a new way of carrying out transactions in real time. The innovative solution also had to work as a common service for Sweden's six largest banks, all of which have their own unique security systems and basic processes.

Solution
In a project that expanded as it progressed, HiQ created the Swish mobile app - a shared service for SEB, Handelsbanken, Nordea, Danske Bank, Länsförsäkringar Bank, and the various branches of Swedbank and Sparbank. Using this service, it is possible to transfer money to individuals with an account in a Swish-affiliated bank in real time. All that is needed for the transaction is the recipient's mobile phone number - no card reader or long account numbers are necessary. Payments are approved with the help of a mobile Bank ID, which ensures that the solution is as safe as the banks' own individual internet services.

Result
Millions of Swedes can now easily transfer money in real time via their mobile phones. Swish is a huge success - in its first 2 years it has reached over 2 million users who now use the service to manage various everyday situations, such as paying someone back for a lunch or collecting money to buy someone a joint birthday present. Swish was awarded as "Mobile Payment of the Year" at the Swedish Mobile Gala 2013.

Volvo Roam Delivery

Assignment
Simplifying the delivery of goods to private individuals together with Volvo Cars.

Challenge
Many of us have experienced how tricky it can be to have ordered goods delivered, not least since many couriers' delivery times don't fit people's day-to-day lives. Often, one might not be home when the delivery arrives, and having to fetch the goods at the post office is time consuming.

Solution
HiQ has helped Volvo Cars to develop the technology for the globally acknowledged service "Roam Delivery", which allows consumers to have goods delivered straight to the trunk of their connected car. To use the service, the driver of a Volvo simply chooses their car as a delivery address. The delivery company gets access to the car's location, colour and registration number, and to a digital disposable key that is connected to Volvo On Call. With a mobile device, the courier simply unlocks the car on site and leaves the goods in the trunk. The car is then immediately locked and the owner receives a message confirming the delivery.

Result
Volvo Roam Delivery is both timesaving and hassle-free, for the recipient as well as for the vendor and the courier. Pilot tests of the service showed that 86 per cent experienced the service as timesaving. 92 per cent stated that they would rather have their goods delivered to their cars than to their homes.

Facebook for deafblind people

Assignment
Helping the Swedish Post & Telecom Authority to make Facebook accessible for everyone, including people suffering from deafblindness and people who are visually impaired.

Challenge
Not being able to communicate on equal terms leads to people being isolated from society and excluded from social contexts. Today, a lot of our conversations take place online, but for people suffering from deafblindness or who are visually impaired, navigating and communicating on the internet can be difficult. The problem with Facebook is that the interface and the huge amount of information are not compatible with tools such as screen readers and braille displays. The challenge was therefore to create a simpler and more slimmed Facebook, which still presents the user with the most common functionality.

Solution
Together with PTS, HiQ has developed the service "Fejjan för alla", that works just as well on a computer as in a smartphone or tablet. The user-friendly interface connects well with aids such as screen readers, braille displays and magnification software. The service has been developed in close collaboration with the target group and deafblind people, as well as visually impaired, have been testing the service throughout the development project. "Fejjan för alla" is a clean and slimmed-down version of Facebook in which the most common actions, such as status updates, friends and messages, have been simplified.

Result
With the service, deafblind people and those who are visually impaired can communicate with family, new acquaintances and others with disabilities on equal terms. Feedback after the launch has been positive, not least for the simplicity of the service. Possible users are the 2,500 individuals who suffer from deafblindness in Sweden, as well as the country's approximately 100,000 visually impaired.

S-mobiili

Assignment
Helping the S Group in Finland simplify for their customers, by developing and offering the next generation of mobile banking services.

Challenge
The S Group's in-store bank S-Pankki has over 2,6 million customers in Finland, and service sports in more than 700 of the S Group outlets. S-Pankki's services are foremost aimed at the users of the S Groups customer loyalty card. The challenge was to create an innovative mobile solution that connects all of the S Groups services - customer loyalty bonus, the internet bank as well as other services and benefits, in order to simplify and improve for the customers.

Solution
HiQ developed a solution called S-mobiili (S Mobile), which is the first mobile bank in the world to be integrated with a retailers customer loyalty program. With the service, S Group customers can manage their bank errands and their loyalty bonus balance at the same time. S-mobiili also offers personalized benefits and discounts as well as an adapted feature for finding service spots. For a complete list of the many smart features, please visit http://www.s-mobiili.fi

Result
S-mobiili simplifies and improves the customers' everyday lives, and it received a fantastic welcoming from both experts and users when it was launched. As an example, the service received an honorary mention for "Best User Experience" in the GrandOne competition. S-mobiili was launched in November 2013 and it was downloaded to nearly 200,000 mobile devices in the first five months alone. S-mobiili has really succeeded in meeting the users' expectations and demands, which is proven by an average score of 4 out of 5 stars in reviews of the service.

Stena Match Cup Sweden

Assignment
HiQ is digital partner to Stena Match Cup Sweden, one of Sweden's biggest sports events with more than 100,000 visitors yearly. HiQ has a multiannual assignment to help Stena Match Cup Sweden to boost the visitors' experience before, during and after the event. This is done by improving and simplifying the digital communication.

Challenge
Today's connected society creates endless possibilities but also challenges and new needs, thanks to new visitor behaviours and technical platforms. Based on this, the client needs help to develop the event and create new solutions for communication and information - solutions that help visitors to follow the sailing competition and everything else that is happening in connection with the event.

Solution
Today, mobile and digital solutions are key factors in all sorts of events in the sporting and entertainment worlds. Therefore HiQ has created a new digital platform and external website for the Stena Match Cup, helping the organisation to interact with the visitors and to spread information. This is a step in improving the event's digital communication.

Result
The new digital platform simplifies communications for the event organisation and it also contributes to creating an even better event for Stena Match Cup Sweden's 100 000 visitors. The new solution helps the visitors to smoothly access the information that they need.

Channel 4

Assignment
To help the UK TV station, Channel 4, to create an IPTV service with a new player and portal for YouView - a shared platform for UK public service broadcasters.

Challenge
The way we watch TV has changed. Today's viewers are used to being able to choose when and how they watch TV. To meet viewers' needs, the UK's public service broadcasters and two broadband companies agreed to work together to create YouView - a subscription-free, easy-to-use TV service with more than 70 digital channels, a 7-day catch-up function and a wide variety of TV programmes, films and radio shows on demand. Channel 4 needed to create a completely new player and portal that could be synchronised with this shared solution.

Solution
HiQ played a key role in the team that created the Channel 4 player and portal for YouView. A critical element of the work was the development of a completely new on-demand player for the new platform, complete with content protection, dynamic advertising and detailed reporting. HiQ also helped Channel 4 to develop a logging system, which is essential for diagnosis and error detection when problems occur.

Result
With Channel 4's new IPTV service, all the channel's viewers can see their favourite programmes when they want to - both live and on-demand on their normal TVs.

Dregen

Assignment
To help popular Swedish rock star Dregen to reach out to his fans and media in a way that suits his rock'n'roll image.

Challenge
In today's digital world an artist is so much more than someone who writes songs and performs on stage. When the channels are endless, a strategic communication is essential to break through the buzz. Dregen spends much on his time stuck on tour buses all over the world and therefore the solution needs to be simple and easy to use. It's also important with a direct link to the fans so that Dregen can speak to them in person.

Solution
We created a website and a digital platform which with its raw rock'n'roll attitude fits the artist's image perfectly. The website, based on a flexible, fast, easy-to-use solution, brings Dregen's communication to a whole new level and makes it easy for him to work while on the run. Because Dregen takes a very active role in social media this was a given component. Much attention was given to usability and the site as a mobile channel.

Result
Dregen's new website enjoys a great number of visitors and the traffic coming in through mobile channels has increased steadily. The site increases the artist's visibility and enables contact with fans and media. Thanks to his new digital platform, Dregen can spend more of his time on song writing and touring the world.

Fintoto

Attn. The video above is only available in Finnish.

Assignment
To create a new and modern mobile service for Fintoto Oy, the group that markets and organizes horse race betting in Finland.

Challenge
To bring the excitement and drama of horse and harness racing to mobile users. Harness racing is Finland's second-most popular sport in terms of spectator numbers. Annually, some 730,000 spectators attend the Finnish racetracks. In 2012, Tote betting amounted to nearly 250 million euros, half of which comes from online gaming. In step with a growing interest and the arrival of new technology, Fintoto discovered a significant demand for a mobile solution, especially among new players. The service needed to be both modern and easy to use.

Solution
HiQ developed "Toto-mobiili", a service that moves Toto betting and live broadcasts into the smartphones in the players' pockets, enabling them to gamble and follow the races anytime and anywhere. The service focuses on the user, combining cutting-edge technology with the joy and excitement of betting.

Result
Fintoto's customers can now easily bet on horse racing and follow live broadcasts in their smartphones. The service simplifies for the users and strengthens Fintoto's offer.

JAS 39 Gripen flight simulator

Assignment
Back in the mid-1990s, HiQ was commissioned to develop, manage and support flight simulator training for the JAS39 Gripen multirole fighter aircraft. The simulator was used to train pilots to fly the plane, handle the tactical systems and deal with various emergency situations.

Challenge
To develop simulators that reflect the advances made and to offer pilots a virtual environment as close to reality as possible, so that on-the-ground training genuinely does resemble the real thing. The aircraft is one of the most technically advanced in the world and the result of one of Sweden's biggest ever industrial projects. In many respects, the environment in a simulator is even more complex than that in the plane itself; not only the aircraft and its controls, but also the surroundings, operator positions, tactical environment, etc. have to be authentically reproduced. And, of course, the simulators have to be simple for users to operate.

Solution
We worked on the project using agile methodology, continually taking responsibility for what was most important to the customer and users at every point in time. The assignment included everything from project management to configuration management, safety work, the preparation and specification of requirements, design/architecture, development, testing, delivery, training and support for users (both technicians and pilots).

Result
Since the project began, more than 300 pilots have been trained in simulators developed by HiQ. Training in a simulator is very cost-effective and has considerably less impact on the environment.

European Athletics indoor championships

Assignment
To optimise the experience for visitors to the European Athletics indoor championships at Scandinavium in Gothenburg.

Challenge
When you are watching an athletics competition where several events are taking place at the same time, it can be difficult to follow everything that is happening. It can also be difficult to find your way around the stadium and to make sure you are aware of all the offers that are available.

Solution
As most people today are online 24/7, HiQ created an efficient, easy-to-navigate website and the official app for Android and iPhone for the 2013 championships in Gothenburg. These digital platforms made it easier for spectators to follow the competitions by providing background information, live updates and details of other events in connection with the competitions.

Result
50,000 unique visitors to the website every day during the championships and 5,200 app downloads during the weekend showed that the digital platform interested and reached a large portion of those attending the event. It was easier to follow the competitions on site and for media, sponsors and competitors to communicate with the event's target groups.

Stockholm Pride Parade

Assignment
To carry out the first ever live broadcast of Sweden's biggest event - the Stockholm Pride Festival - and to involve participants in the parade with the help of mobile units.

Challenge
To cope with the huge strain on the internet when more than five hundred thousand people out on the streets of Stockholm are encouraged during an intensive four-hour period to stream pictures for a live TV broadcast. We also wanted to set new records for live streaming during the course of one single day. "Openness" was the theme of this year's Pride Festival, and we wanted to show that technical solutions, such as Channel Q, can contribute to a more open society.

Solution
We created a four-hour live broadcast with presenter Roger Nordin. Guests on the programme included Danny Saucedo, Babsan and Sweden's Minister for European Union Affairs, Birgitta Olsson. By integrating Bambuser with our website it was possible to follow thousands of live pictures from the parade. The camera team worked hard to create a wi-fi "carpet" to cover the entire the parade route so that everyone could contribute to the fantastic show. The event was broadcast on hiq.se, expressen.se, qx.se and on the large screen in Kungsträdgården Park in Central Stockholm.

Result
We pioneered the first ever live broadcast of the Stockholm Pride Parade. We set a new Nordic record for the number of live streams in a day. We set a new visitor record to our website, and tens of thousands of people watched the TV broadcast online. We also succeeded in showing how technology can create a more open society.

Media, gaming and entertainment
HiQ's market segments

Together with innovative and driven clients, HiQ works with simplifying and improving people's lives using IT.

HiQ's clients come from a variety of different industries, and they all have something in common - that they want to be at the forefront, developing their businesses and operations through simple and user friendly solutions.

We divide our customers, who have primarily Nordic but also global presence, into eight market segments.

Telecom

Mobility and improvements in capacity are becoming ever more important for all clients in all industries .

Since 1995, HiQ has a very strong standing in this segment and works with global and market-leading clients. We have extensive technical expertise as well as commercial competence within telecommunications systems.

For almost 20 years we have been working closely with suppliers, operators, users and legislative authorities. Our know-how and understanding of the industry creates great value for clients and projects in other lines of business, as almost everyone are dependent on telecom technology and mobility.

For example, HiQ helps Microsoft Devices with an efficient and cloud based ''Internet of Things'' solution for analytics. The data gathered with the solution aims to improve quality of the mobile devices as well as the end- user experience. The solution makes it possible to forecast trends and modify functionality.

Some of our clients in this segment are Ascom Wireless Solutions, Com Hem, Doro, Ericsson, Microsoft Devices, Nokia, Telenor, TDC and Tele2.

Automotive

Vehicles and their components are increasingly becoming connected and able to communicate with each other.

This simplifies for people and increases safety on our roads. The technology used in the automotive industry is constantly evolving and there is a great deal of pressure to introduce shorter and more efficient development cycles.

Together with innovative clients we are developing active safety systems, such as road trains. Several vehicles travel in a semi-autonomous convoy, which contributes to enhanced safety and reduced fuel consumption. We are also developing a 360-degree field of vision around vehicles. This enables the vehicle to identify hazards and thereby avoid accidents.

HiQ is also increasingly involved in projects aimed at developing eco-friendlier vehicles. Technology plays a crucial part in finding effective solutions to reduce emissions and minimise fuel consumption.

Some of our clients in this segment are BorgWarner, Scania, Volvo Cars and the Volvo Group.

Industry

More and more companies are completely dependent on, and open to the possibilites of, mobility and IT.

HiQ creates new business offers and solutions that simplify operations. There are a great number of IT-dependent products and support systems that require development capacity and services for testing and quality assurance. ''The cloud'' is actively used for the streamlining of processes.

HiQ has a strong position in this segment and works with several global players with the aim to simplify and improve. For example, HiQ is strategic partner to Finnair and SAS, with the responsibility to help the airline companies with development, support and operation of business critical crew management systems.

Some of our clients in this segment are ABB, Assa Abloy, Atlas Copco, Bombardier, Dekra, Electrolux, Empower, Finnair, Jeppesen Systems, Kuusakoski, Kerava Energy, SAS, SKF and Svevia.

Public sector

The public sector is continually striving to increase service levels and make people's lives simpler .

To do so, the sector is developing IT environments that streamline and strengthen its operations.

HiQ has more than ten years' experience of working with the development of business-critical IT solutions for public authorities and organizations. The IT development in this segment simplifies for us as citizens, in our contacts and dealings with various authorities.

HiQ grows within the healthcare segment and has a number of framework agreements with different municipalities and county councils. Through strategy and technology, we simplify for both healthcare providers and patients - before, during, and after the appointment. We see great possibilities to streamline within this important segment.

Some of our clients in this segment are the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, the city of Gothenburg, the Traffic Assurance Association, the Swedish Public Employment Service, the Government of Sweden, Region Västra Götaland, the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Stockholm County Council and the Finnish customs.

Finance and insurance

Today, we want to manage our bank errands simply, quickly and securely - willingly with a mobile device .

Because of this, the finance and insurance segment is undergoing great changes. At HiQ, we combine our financial insights with our expertise in mobility to create a very competitive offering within mobile payments and banking services. This is an area in which we continue winning assignments in the Nordic region.

Swish, that HiQ developed together with Bankgirot for Sweden's six largest banks, is a success with more than two million users. Swish enables people to transfer money in real time, without bank card readers or account numbers.

In Finland, the field of mobile banking services is also a large and recognised area of expertise for HiQ. We have, for example, developed the world's first mobile bank that is connected to a retail chain's customer bonus system.

Some of our clients in this segment are Bankgirot, Collector, Handelsbanken, Nordea, OP Pohjola Group, the S Group, SEB, Skandiabanken, Swedbank, Varma and Wasa Kredit.

Media, gaming and entertainment

Thanks to today's technology , this industry is changing rapidly .

Today, we can play games or stream high-quality media content almost regardless of where we are. At HiQ we use our know-how and experience from other segments as we help both the experienced players and the start-ups to create the solutions of tomorrow.

As an example, online-based TV is growing at a fast pace. HiQ is part of developing a number of services for various TV channels in the Nordic region and elsewhere in Europe. The viewers of today can decide for themselves where, when and how they want to watch TV, for example by using the IPTV service that HiQ has assisted British Channel 4 to develop.

In addition, HiQ is involved in developing online gaming. This, too, is a constantly evolving industry, and the Nordic companies are successful on the global gaming market.

Some of our clients in this segment are Channel 4, DICE, Fintoto, GTECH, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, King, MTG Radio, MTV 3 Finland, Natur & Kultur, Rovio, SBS TV, Spotify, Utbildningsradion and Veikkaus.

Defence and security

We live in a time in which defence andsecurity are becoming more and more important.

The view of the world is uncertain and the question of defence is put higher on the agenda - not least is IT security becoming even more important for both companies and authorities. HiQ's experience in this area is extensive, as it has been since the start 20 years ago.

With our expert know-how, HiQ has been developing training simulators for the JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft since the early 1990s. Hundreds of fighter pilots worldwide have been trained in simulators that HiQ helps to develop.

HiQ helps the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to simplify tracking of their material using RFID technology - a high-tech collaboration that has won international recognition.

Some of our clients in this segment are BAE, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), the Swedish Armed Forces and SAAB.

Retail

Today, our shopping behaviour is completely different than it was only a few years back.

Shopping online is convenient and simple, and online and mobile shopping is constantly breaking new records.

HiQ has a thorough understanding of the industry gained over many years, and we supply leading international retail chains with services ranging from concept and design to quality assurance. HiQ works within a broad range that includes e-commerce, mobile commerce, procurement and logistics systems, and tools for marketing and sales.

Some of our clients in this segment are ICA, Lähikauppa, Stockmann, and Volvohandelns Utvecklings AB.

Digital communication partner
Business-critical systems
Mobility

Regardless of where we are, we have become used to being in constant contact with the outside world via mobile phones, laptops and tablets - when at work, on holiday and in our free time.

We take it for granted that we have constant access to the services that we feel are important. These might be e-mail, social networking sites, weather reports, mobile banking, or our favourite music, to name just a few. Whatever it might be, the requirements we place on the service with regard to accessibility, privacy, content and usability are great.

HiQ provides expertise within mobility and mobile solutions to customers in all market segments and we are highly competent with regard to various technical platforms. We provide consultancy services and work with strategies, applications, usability and quality assurance linked to business benefits in our customers' operations. Some examples include a mobile banking application for handling banking errands and a mobile e-commerce platform that allows users to buy goods straight from their mobile phones.

Telecom

Telecommunications involves communication between people and between people and systems.

It can also include systems communicating with each other without human involvement. Today, this means that your computer, video game console, mobile, sound system, TV and other devices are able to interact and communicate with the world around them.

HiQ has long held a strong position within telecommunications and cooperates with the majority of systems suppliers, mobile phone manufacturers, operators and users in the Nordic region. We are currently witnessing a continued, strong convergence between the Internet, media, entertainment and mobility. Telecom technology is playing a central role here as increasing amounts of information are transmitted with the help of IP. HiQ is active at the very heart of this convergence.

One example of this is our development of Dreampark's next-generation IPTV portal. TV distribution over IP networks using a new kind of hybrid box will give viewers access to a broad range of TV channels, the Internet, movie rental services, Facebook and Twitter. In the future, it will even be possible to record programmes directly on mobile phones and tablets.

Simulation technology

One of the specialist areas in which HiQ has a long-running history of expertise is simulation technology. We areleaders in the Nordic region in software development for simulated environments and work together with many different customers in the field.

Ever since the JAS Gripen fighter jet first came into service, HiQ has developed simulators for training pilots. HiQ continues its work on this project as the aircraft and technology continue to be developed. An interesting detail about the JAS Gripen project is that the simulator uses the same system software as the actual fighter jet.

HiQ also develops simulators used in the development and testing of new mobile phones and IT solutions for vehicles. Another example is when we helped Forsslund Systems, the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology and Karolinska Institutet to develop an oral surgery simulator. The system is used by dentistry students to practice surgical procedures.

Digital communication partner

In just a few short years the way in which we communicate has been totally transformed. To meet the new challenges that this presents and the needs it creates, HiQ has assembled a talented team in the form of a digital agency that helps our customers to make their digital communication even more powerful.

Today's communication increasingly takes place online and across numerous different platforms. This creates business for HiQ, which is winning more and more assignments as a strategic digital partner. Our expertise in technology, communication and business together with our extensive experience in many market segments and specialist areas means that HiQ is gaining ground in the digital market. The team of art directors, creative directors, copywriters, interaction designers and usability experts in HiQ's digital agency frequently works on projects that demand the highest levels of innovation, creativity and technical know-how.

The partnership is tailor-made to support the client´s business in the best way. In this way HiQ becomes a long-term partner to organisations that regard IT and communication as business critical functions for success. Other collaboration takes the form of a more limited participation in projects, where we interact closely with advertising agencies, etc.

Business-critical systems

IT offers a wealth of opportunities for businesses and the public sector to both improve and simplify what they do.

Many companies are highly dependent on their IT systems. Banks and insurance companies are totally dependent on the reliability of the IT systems that manage payments and other transactions, for example. Public sector institutions require support systems to help them keep their operations well organised and to ensure that the services they provide to the public function well.

In the case of the Swedish National Tax Board, for example, IT has made it possible to offer better, simpler, more user-friendly services by providing forms, tax declarations and applications online.

HiQ develops systems able to meet high demands on accessibility and reliability and that are business-critical for the customer's entire operation. Often, these are systems that are required to operate 24-7, such as systems for share trading and case management systems for public authorities. This might also include things like logistical solutions for transport or trading companies. Whatever the case may be, they are always business-critical parts of our customers' operations.

Gaming and platforms

Today there is a veritable ocean of interactive online games . Scratchcards are now available on mobile phones, poker is a success on tablets and there are many new ideas in the pipeline.

HiQ works to produce interactive games for betting and sporting games for state-regulated companies. The demand for interactive gaming alternatives is increasing, especially within sports games.

We are Nordic leaders in the area and develop and implement platforms for both gaming and the games themselves. HiQ also develops advanced solutions for managing security, accessibility and performance. Our customers include established, well-known Nordic gaming companies and betting agencies, as well as GTECH - the world-leading supplier of IT solutions and services for the gaming and lottery industry.

Securities trading

Within finance, HiQ is a specialist in securities trading services .

We have successfully managed a very large number of projects and commissions in this area - from strategy and systems to projects and administration. Efficiency is often the most important issue for our customers, e.g. how to make the process faster, how to monitor it better or how to reduce risk. Thanks to HiQ's understanding of the flows of the securities industry, we are able to find solutions to these issues. We possess expertise on the entire process - from orders and transactions to clearing and settlement.

We provide our customers with insight into the complete process. The finance industry is complex, so it is often possible to focus on and understand only one section of the market. At HiQ, we understand all aspects of the industry. Our comprehensive knowledge allows us to quickly find effective, secure solutions that meet all existing standards and legal requirements, from the time the order is placed to the time the transaction is made and registered. This over-arching capability saves our customers both time and money, allowing them to get up and running quickly and to get to work on new business opportunities.

IT for vehicles

New vehicles launched onto the market today are packed with IT and technological solutions.

This might include an information system for the driver that indicates how the vehicle is performing, a navigation system or an entertainment system for passengers. One area that continues to expand is active safety. Examples of active safety solutions include systems that cause cars to brake automatically when someone or something gets too close and functions that improve driver vision in poor lighting.

HiQ helps vehicle manufacturers and sub-suppliers to the automotive industry to develop platforms, systems and services for vehicles. These facilitate communication between different devices within a vehicle and communication to and from a vehicle. We are well positioned within fields like infotainment, active safety, telematics and usability.

Another growing area in which HiQ has a long record of experience is mobility and digital channels. In this field, we help Saab Automobile AB with its development of technical platforms for marketing via digital channels and mobile applications, for example. We also develop engine management systems, production systems and diagnostics solutions and have delivered a new production system for a leading global car manufacturer to Brazil and Asia. Through our broad-ranging offerings to the automotive industry, HiQ's work saves both money and lives.
