Online money chain case enters second-level probe

April 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Kozhikode:

After netting two main accused in a big online money chain case, the Kunnamangalam police have started their second-round probe to find the software developers who worked for the gang and operated their financial deals from Chennai.

Police officers heading the probe said they would soon leave for Chennai to conduct further investigations into the case in which several investors in Kerala and outside were duped. The directors of the fake firm named Orbit Media Studio, too, would be probed to expose the sham deals, they added.

Sumith Raj Sinha and Sunil Kumar, the two main accused who were earlier arrested in connection with the case, are now in police custody for further interrogation.

The police have got vital clues on the number of investors duped and the amount of money they mobilised through the operations.

Accounts blocked

S. Sajeev, sub-inspector from Kunnamangalam station, said the bank accounts of the firm had already been blocked for preventing further transactions and to trace the details of the deals. “However, tough legal action against the accused will be only possible through the written complaints of victims.

They can approach any of the nearby police stations to lodge complaints,” he added.

The two main accused in the case were arrested following a complaint received by City Police Commissioner P.A. Valsan. The complaint was lodged by a Kunnamangalam native, who lost money in the fraud investment scheme.
