Fire victims allowed to rebuild houses in CRZ location

Above 200 migrant families have been permitted to rebuild their houses, which were gutted in a fire mishap on Friday, in the existing location that falls under the Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) at Manginapudi in Krishna district.

The families respective were migrated from East Godavari district to Manginapudi a few years ago and constructed houses in the CRZ area. According to an official release, B.C. Welfare Minister K. Ravindra discussed the matter of rehabilitating the affected families from the existing area with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday.

“A decision has been taken to allow the victims to rebuild their houses under the existing CRZ location on humanitarian grounds. However they need to be prepared to rehabilitate to somewhere else in future,” said Mr. Ravindra.

It is learnt that all the victim families were engaged in fishing in the Bay of Bengal.
