Former captain of the Indian hockey team Dhanraj Pillay has said that organ donation is a form of service to the nation. He was speaking at the inauguration of an organ donation initiative by Goodwin Charitable Trust here.
The trust had organised an awareness programme during which several cine artists, doctors and authorities from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) attended the function.

Bollywood actor Aftab Shivdasani, Milind Gunaji, MLA Gautam Chabukswar, Malayalam actors Deven, Kaniha, Krishna, Sharth, Shanawas, Ranjini Haridas, Sanal Potti, corporator Sujata Palande, Manisha Pawar, former corporator Rajesh Pillai, Dr Abhijit Joshi, founder of Goodwin Group A G Mohanan, Shantabai Mohanan, trustee of Goodwin Charitable Trust Sudhishkumar and Sunilkumar were among the prominent persons present at the function.
Over 15,000 people took an oath to donate organs.
Singer Alka Yagnik and comedian Navin Prabhakar enthralled the audiences with performances.
Sudheesh Kumar, a trustee of the Goodwin Charitable Trust, said that thousands of people have volunteerly extended their support for this noble function via online registration and in person.
