Movement of heavy vehicles such as trucks on Ane Sarot Road adjacent to the Devaraja Market here is likely to be restricted once the work on concreting the road (230 meters in length and 8.5 meters in width) is completed to facilitate free movement of shoppers.

The work on concreting the road was taken up at a cost of Rs. 90 lakh from a portion of grants allocated to Chamaraja Assembly Constituency from the Chief Minister’s Rs. 100-crore grant to Mysuru city.

Chamaraja MLA Vasu, accompanied by Mayor R. Lingappa, MCC Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath and others, inspected the road work on Saturday.

Only 30 meters of concrete work was pending which will be completed soon, Mr. Vasu said.

He also said that the banana mandi (operating along the Ane Sarot Road) must shift to the renovated wholesale fruit market in RMC yard on New Sayyaji Rao Road in Bamboo Bazaar. The traders will not be allowed to keep unripe banana on the road obstructing traffic movement, he added.
