April 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A 50-year-old man was found dead inside the bathroom of a bungalow on Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla Marg on Saturday.

According to the police, the decomposed body of the victim, identified as Bhumia Sumitra, was found hanging through a rope tied with a hook in the bathroom. The police suspect the body was 20 days old. A case of murder has been registered.

The police said the house was allotted to a Member of Parliament from Jammu and Kashmir, but he had vacated it four months ago. “Foul smell was emanating from the house that has been locked for a long time. Around 11 a.m., a security guard entered the house and found the body in the bathroom,” a police officer said.

A call was made to the PCR after which the body was taken for post-mortem. An identity card and a train ticket from Ambala to Delhi were found in his pocket. “Prima facie, it appears that he was murdered somewhere else and later his body was placed there, ” the officer added. The police, however, have not ruled out the possibility of a suicide.
