NASHIK: Two members of the Shiv Sena, who recently resigned from the civic body’s standing committee will be replaced by new members in a special meeting convened on Monday. The standing committee chief has submitted names of four corporators to the Sena chief in this regard.
In early April, Surekha Bhosle and Megha Salve from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were appointed in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) standing committee after the resignations of Savita Kale and Anil Matale from the MNS.

The 16-member standing committee was reconstituted on February 26 after the end of the two-year term of its eight members. The committee has five MNS corporators, the NCP has three and the Congress, Shiv Sena and the BJP have two members each. The RPI (A) and Shahar Vikas Aghadi have one member each.
Sachin Marathe and Vandana Birari of the Shiv Sena initially refused to resign from their posts even after the end of their terms. However, they recently submitted their resignations and new members will replace them in a meeting on Monday.
A Shiv Sena leader said that Birari and Marathe were adamant about resigning from their posts despite the completion of their terms. They needed a lot of persuasion to give up their seat.
Shiv Sena city chief, Ajay Boraste, said, “We suggested four names to our chief who has not received any post till date. He will decide who to recommend for the standing committee,”
Surekha Bhosle, Megha Salve, Yashwant Nikule, Sangita Gaikwad and Ratnamala Rane from MNS, Chhaya Thakre, Nilima Amle and Shivaji Chumble from NCP, Ranjana Bhansi and Kunal Wagh from BJP, Rahul Dive and Vimal Patil from Congress, Lalita Bhalerao from RPI (A)and Shaikh Rashida and Shahar Vikas Aghadi are the present members of the standing committee. Sachin Marathe and Vandana Birari from Shiv Sena are the outgoing members.
