COIMBATORE: A lok adalat was held at the court halls of the principal district judge and the additional district judge on Saturday in the city. More than 25-year-old cases were settled. Nearly 150 people who had acquired land from the Tamil Nadu Housing Board for the construction of tenements in Ganapathy in 1990 were promised compensation.
The principal district judge and chairman of the Legal Services Authority, N Seshasayee, N Jeganathan, senior civil judge and N Elavarasu, additional sessions judge, were in attendance during the lok adalat.

Nearly 94 accident cases and around 5 land dispute cases were taken up. Nearly 2.80 crore in redressal was settled under the 94 cases of Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Original Petition (MCOP). And 15,25,000 was settled under the five Land Acquisition Original Petitions (LAOP).
