Judge approves new training rules for NYPD cadets

A federal judge Friday approved new training guidelines for NYPD recruits on how to be a model cop that includes pointers like don’t be racist, don’t engage in ethnic or sexist jokes and always speak slowly and clearly — especially when addressing people with limited English skills.

Manhattan Judge Analisa Torres signed off on 140 pages of new training material for the current class of cadets graduating this June.

They were provided by Peter Zimroth, a federal monitor overseeing reforms to cops’ stop-and-frisk tactics under a court order.

The new guidelines were in response to Judge Shira Scheindlin’s 2013 ruling that found the city’s stop-and-frisk tactics unconstitutional.

Zimroth in a letter to Torres said the guidelines were developed with input from the NYPD and that they could be modified for future rookie classes.
