NAGPUR: “Every woman should have Eyewatch application (app), a women safety app which has many special features. In unfriendly situations, our guardian would be able to know our location with just a call with its help,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP), crime branch, Deepali Masrikar.
She was addressing a seminar organized by Lady Entrepreneur Wing (LEW) of Vidarbha Industries Association on the topic ‘Cyber Crime and Awareness’.

While touching the hotly debated topic of net neutrality, she said it should be treated like any other utility and its use should be accessible to everyone. The DCP guided women on personal safety such as resisting from sharing their personal information on the social networking websites and to unknown persons. “Passwords of different networking and social sites should not be based on nicknames, birth date or birth year. Avoid disclosing anything to anyone related to credit and debit cards,” she said while explaining about various types of cyber crimes like hacking, fishing, morphing and many more.
LEW chairperson Vandana Sharma spoke on online frauds. “Increase in online shopping and constant sharing of information on social networking sites have worsened the matter. Credit card frauds, defamation is very common and women should be alert about this,” she warned.
The seminar was concluded with a presentation of various schemes for women entrepreneurs by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) division of Nagpur.
