Taking forward its participatory budgeting exercise, the ruling AAP will hold the second instalment of its public consultations over the weekend covering 11 constituencies spread across Delhi.
According to a senior official, public meetings will be held at the Okhla, Shahdara, Dwarka, Shalimar Bagh, Tilak Nagar, Karawal Nagar, Chhatarpur, Kirari, Sadar Bazaar, Patparganj and Bawana constituencies on Saturday and Sunday.
The AAP had last week held consultations with the public in West Vinod Nagar, Sanjay Jheel and the Pocket-F area of Mayur Vihar Phase-II, which falls under Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s Patparganj constituency. In West Vinod Nagar and Mayur Vihar Phase – II, residents wanted the government to install CCTV cameras and increase parking facilities, while in Sanjay Jheel, they wanted sewer lines to be fixed and water pipelines installed.
The government has also come up with an advertisement seeking suggestions on participatory budgeting through e-mail. “Delhi has been divided into 12 segments and Rs.20 crore will be allotted to each. These segments will be further divided into 40 parts so each gets Rs.50 lakh. People can raise local issues and, at the end of the day, voting will be done. The issue which gets the maximum votes will be taken up on priority,” the official said. — PTI
