Ten criminal complaints have been filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and senior members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the alleged suicide of a farmer, Gajendra Singh, during a party rally at Jantar Mantar here on Wednesday.
Police sources told The Hindu that “a slew of complaints demanding action” against Mr. Kejriwal had been filed at the Parliament Street police station in the past two days.
The last complaint was filed by the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress (DPYC) on Friday afternoon. The Youth Congress activists had on Thursday protested outside the Chief Minister’s residence demanding registering of a case against him.
It has also named Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and senior AAP leader Kumar Vishvas.
Police sources said the complaints had been forwarded to the Crime Branch, which is probing the case. “AAP activists forced Gajendra, who wanted to meet Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Sisodia, to commit suicide,” Amit Malik, DPYC president, said.
“Even after he had committed suicide in front of their eyes, the rally went on as planned and everyone, including Mr. Kejriwal, Mr. Sisodia and Dr. Vishvas, watched the tamasha . They must be brought to book ...,” Mr. Malik said. The DPYC has demanded that Mr. Kejriwal step down as Chief Minister till the investigation is over.
