Dhruv’s father actor Mohan Bhandari battling brain tumour

Actor Dhruv Bhandari, who has returned to television after three years with Rajan Shahi’s Tere Shehar Mein, is in no frame of mind to celebrate his comeback. Reason: His father, senior actor Mohan Bhandari, is battling brain tumour. “Dad is my greatest inspiration in life. He has always worked hard to give us everything. I have seen him go through the ups and downs of life without complaints. He has seen the extreme ends of everything — days of stardom and those of an ordinary person.There was a time when he was flooded with scripts to choose from and then, there came a stage when he had to make calls requesting for auditions. From being absolutely healthy, he now lives a life of restrictions because of brain tumour. The last two years have been very difficult for my entire family and the most for him,” he says.

Despite his illness, Dhruv says, his father guides him in acting. “He makes me focus on the smallest of details, but never spoon-feeds. For instance, if I ask him about a certain scene or dialogue, he will first ask me to try it on my own. He has supported me more than other family members, because they don’t understand the profession like he does. If I become big in future, it will be because of his guidance,” he elaborates.
So, does his father watch his show? “Not regularly, but whenever he does, it brings a smile on his face. He did notice that I have copied his hairstyle, and said that it suits me better. Acting was, is and will always be a connect between dad and me,” Dhruv sums up.
