Help arrives 30 mins late, man who fell off train dies

Prakash Sonawane, 30, lost his life after falling off a running train soon after he boarded it at Chunabhatti station around 11.15 am on Friday.

Commuters who witnessed the accident said Sonawane’s life could have been saved had the railway police reached within the golden hour.

According to commuter Satyabrata Tripathhy, the deceased was probably inebriated. “He fell off when the train had travelled barely 100m from the platform, and was breathing for about 10 minutes,” said Tripathhy.

“I rushed to the station master’s office, where I was told help had been sent, but no one turned up for 30 minutes,” he said.
