Pep Guardiola will be 'professional' on Barcelona return

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola will have to brace himself for an ‘emotional’ semi-final tie against former side Barcelona, according to Sky Deutschland’s Uli Koelher.

Guardiola, who left the club in 2012, returns to the Nou Camp for the first time as manager on May 6 after the sides were paired in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

“Former player Paul Breitner and the German delegation here said it’s the game of the games,” Koehler told Sky Sports News HQ after Friday’s draw in Nyon.

“It’s something like a final because these are maybe the two best teams. But it will also be more than a semi-final because it is a very emotional game for its history and for Pep Guardiola.

More from Champions League Semi-finals

“He’s won the trophy twice with Barcelona and now he goes back and we know he is very emotional. He wanted to avoid his former team as long as possible but now they meet in the semi-finals he has to deal with it.”

Asked what reception Guardiola thinks he will receive on his Nou Camp return, Koehler replied: “He doesn’t know at all but he will be professional.”
