    CBDT urge tax officials for quick disposal of MAT claims by FPIs

    The central board of direct taxes has instructed its field officials to settle within one month any pending claim issues.

    NEW DELHI: India has asked it's tax officials to expeditiously dispose off claims of foreign portfolio investors seeking double taxation avoidance treaty benefits against levy of minimum alternate tax, in a bid to soothe frayed nerves of foreign investors.

    The central board of direct taxes has instructed its field officials to settle within one month any pending claim issues.

    This will ensure quick disposal if cases if foreign portfolio investors coming in from countries such as Mauritius or Singapore had been issued any notice on their capital gains.
