Adopting the model of Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC), the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to install a 4 MW wind power plant in Kutch.
Proposed plant will avail power at Rs 2/unit cost. AMC presently purchases power from Torrent Power and UGVCL for Rs. 7/unit. If proposed 4 MW plant generates annually around 75 lakh unit power, the AMC will save close to Rs 3.75 crore.
AMC now pays electricity bills worth close to Rs 195 crore a year.
The Rs. 30 crore project will be operated for 20 years with a 10-year operations and maintenance contract. A proposal was accepted by the standing committee meeting on Thursday.
