The Daily Mail writes that GYPSY's Stephen Mear has joined the new production of CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG as choreographer.

James Brining will direct Richard M. Sherman, Robert B. Sherman and Jeremy Sams' musical at the West Yorkshire Playhouse from December 2, followed by a run at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton, starting February 10, 2016.

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG will then head out on a UK tour.

Based on the 1968 film, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG premiered in the West End in 2002 with choreography by Gillian Lynne. It migrated to Broadway in 2005 and launched a UK tour the following year.

Aside from his work on GYPSY, currently in the West End starring Imelda Staunton, Mear has choreographed London's KISS ME, KATE, BETTY BLUE EYES, SWEET CHARITY, ON THE TOWN, SINATRA AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM, MARY POPPINS, ME AND MY GIRL, TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, ANYTHING GOES and THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK.

He also choreographed THE LITTLE MERMAID on Broadway in 2008 and the MARY POPPINS US Tour in 2009.
