Japan offers support for development of Kakinada

Officials of the Yokohama City Council in Japan have promised to extend cooperation to the State government in its efforts to transform Kakinada into a ‘Smart City’. During an interaction with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , Yokohama Port president Masayuki Takashima and other members of a Japanese delegation gave a presentation on the development of Yokohama City and its seaport. The presentation highlighted, among other things, the Yokohama City Centre Enhancement project, Kanazawa Reclamation project, subway lines and transportation, underground expressway projects and Konoku New Town project which elevated the Yokohama to global standards. The Japanese team told Mr. Naidu that they would visit Kakinada and identify the areas in which they could collaborate with the government. Mr. Naidu sought their expertise in revamping of the city, waste management, tourism, improving infrastructure and civic amenities and reducing pollution.
