Arjun scores a quickfire 50
The first 12 films he scored music for failed at BO, but then he has turned it around dramatically
On April 29, when the audio of the film Vajrakaya gets officially launched, it will be the celebration of composerArjun Janya's personal landmark. This film is his 50th as a music composer. For someone who has seen so much pain seeing some of his best works go unheard due to the film's failure, it is just a number. "Especially for me, these landmark numbers does not mean much. You know what happened to the first 12 films. FM stations still play songs from Birugaali, Patre Loves Padma, Sanchari and Dheemaku and people love them. But since the films failed, hardly anybody remembers that I scored the music for these films," says Arjun. The turning point came with Kempegowda. Sandalwood suddenly recognised Arjun's talent and even crowned him 'Junior AR Rehman.' There has been no looking back since then. In fewer than four years since then, he has reached his 50th films with six more in the pipeline. “I was used to people appreciating my songs without acknowldging me. I really understood what success is with Kempegowda,” he says.
Being a contemporary when another composer Harikrishna is in his peak is not easy. “I do not know how to define that. I have worked with stars. Vajrakaya is my third film with Shivanna. I have worked with Sudeep in three films and also all my films with Sharan have been hits. But I am not the sort of person who would go and seek work. I believe that if I do my job well work will come to me," he says. Arjun is also thrilled that Vajrakaya is getting positive response. The audio is available in market for over a week now though it is yet to be officially launched. "The audio company says it is doing very well. Even the response of people who have heard it I find online is great. It is usually considered that landmark numbers are jinxed. But not always. Vajrakaya is proving that." Arjun's upcoming films include Bullet Basya, Style King, RX Suri and Ganga.
