PATNA: The fragrance of the Naivedyam of Mahavir Mandir, Patna, is to spread beyond the continent.
Sheshadri, head of Naivedyam division of Mahavir Mandir, Patna, who prepares ladoos for offering to the deity of Hanumanji, has been invited to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, during the festival Pushpayagyam at Narayana Temple situated there, said secretary, Mahavir Mandir Nyas Samiti, Acharya Kishore Kunal, on Thursday.

Sheshadri is leaving for Kenya on April 26 on the invitation of the Narayana Temple authorities. He will prepare Naivedyam and Pongal ‘prasad’ there for a week and will also impart training to prepare the items. He will return on May 5.
During financial year 2014-15, the total sale of Naivedyam at Mahavir Mandir was around 7,91,213kg. The temple trust received Rs14,18,49,810 as its price and the net profit from the sale was Rs4,60,05,950 during that period.
About 30 cooks from Tirupati are residing on the Mahavir Mandir premises here for Naivedyam and Pongal Prasad preparation. They get up in ‘Brahm muhurt’ everyday and after taking bath and performing rituals, start preparing ladoos at 3.00am and continue doing so till 2pm. They work for longer period on Tuesday and during festival days.
