It’s that time of the year again, when it feels like Mumbai has been transported to Mercury… at least in terms of its proximity to the sun. It’s not even May yet and the temperatures are already soaring higher than the Sensex!
The heat and humidity have soared to such an extent that a number of household gadgets are as good as redundant.
You don’t need a toaster anymore, bread can be toasted on the streets at noon. Eggs turn into omelettes just by placing them on a car’s hood. Food doesn’t need to be heated anymore, kitchens are as hot as a microwave and Mumbai’s famous local trains and buses can almost be mistaken for a sauna.
While there may be very few ways to beat the heat, Mumbaikars have taken to Twitter to let off some steam, pun intended, asking the sun to chill a little.
#Mumbaikars know now how a momo feels inside a steamer! #MumbaiHeat
