The biopic on MS Dhoni's life has everyone's curiosity piqued. However, there has been a delay and the film, that was to release this October, has now been pushed to the next year. Explaining the situation, a source has been quoted in a Mumbai Mirror report as saying that, "They had to decide what personal and professional details to incorporate and what to leave out. A certain decorum has to be maintained as Dhoni is still a playing captain and has not retired from the game." Another reason for the delay is attributed to the tricky casting. "A lot of actors have to be cast, including those who will play sports icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly," added the source. Were Dhoni's form and the backlash Team India has been facing after its recent defeats on overseas tours, also reasons for the makers to wait for a more opportune date? “No, that's not a concern. As long as Dhoni plays, he'll always give his best to Team India and will always be admired. The film will definitely come in 2016 though no date has been locked yet,“ the source retorted. The source has also pointed out that it is not uncommon for biopics to extend their deadlines. And in this case, Sushant has had to undergo intensive training, as well as grow his hair long and then cut it short since Dhoni's look has changed dramatically in the last decade.

While Sushant is gearing up to start shooting for the film from July, another actor is all geared up to play Ravi Shastri. Read on to find out who he is...

A source close to the development has been quoted in a Mumbai Mirror report as saying that, "Yes, Gautam will be playing Shastri whose friendship with India's former cricket captain, Mohammed Azharuddin is an integral part of the film. He has been working on his physique for the past month so he looks more like a young Ravi Shastri. He has also been attending workshops and viewing interviews and videos of Shastri to try and imbibe his personality." Gulati, according to a source, will soon take the field and start practising Shastri's famous 'chapati' shots.

Almost two decades later, Azhar's story will come alive on celluloid. But interestingly, in Ekta Kapoor's upcoming biopic, Azhar, Sachin's contribution to the former Indian captain's career will not be explored at length. A source close to the development has been quoted in a Mumbai Mirror report as saying that the makers were clear that the film is about Azhar's life and times and not about any other cricketer. The Tony D'Souza directorial is divided into three segments as is explained in the teaser through Emraan Hashmi's voiceover, “Mera khuda hai ek, biwiyaan hain do, aur mujh par match-fixing ke aarop teen." According to the source, during an earlier brainstorming session, Sachin was to play a substantial role in the narrative, but now, he's been reduced to just a cameo. “The film delves more on the sensational aspects of Azhar's life than his playing career,“ reasons the source in the report.

While Sachin will remain conspicuous by his absence in Azhar's biopic, he will soon be coming up with his own film. Read on to know more...
