Case registered

Thondamuthur Police registered a case against M. Nataraj (42), a Caste Hindu who is a branch functionary of the Dravida Munetra Kazhagam on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting six boys of the Arunthathiyar community.

It is learnt that when the boys went to Nataraj’s house to get contribution for a temple festival, he reportedly assaulted them.

Father of one of the boys K. Balakrishnan (37), attached to the DMK, and members of Aathi Tamilar Peravai gheraoed Thondamuthur police station and lodged a complaint.

A case was registered against Nataraj.

Seized

Two sand tippers with Kerala registration were seized by Karamadai Police during a vehicle check at the Ansur check-post at Vellingadu, near Karamadai, on Tuesday evening.

The police said that the trucks were illegally carrying sand from a crusher unit at Karamadai to Kerala.

Drivers of the trucks H. Abdul Kathar (34) and P. Pramoth, both from Mannarkadu in Palakkad, were arrested and sent to remand.
