Compensation given

Two persons who were affected by acid attack in Mettur area were given compensation here.

In February, 2015, a gang entered the Salem camp area in Mettur and threatened Murugan’s family to vacate a house. When Murugan’s neighbour Venkatesh and Venkatachalam tried to prevent the attack, the gang threw acid on the two. This resulted in injuries to them and they were admitted to Government Hospital in Mettur. Karumalai Koodal police registered a case and arrested seven persons.

Under the Victim Compensation Fund, Superintendent of Police G. Subbulakshmi handed over the compensation of Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 40,000 to Venkatesh and Venkatachalam respectively.
