The banks of the Godavari will soon house the Gayatri temple tower claimed to be one of the tallest coming up on 1,500 square yards near Gowthami Ghat with 12 floors and two lifts.

Sringeri Peetam senior pontiff Sri Bharthi Theertha Swami, Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipati Swami Sri Jayendra Saraswati, Sri Ganapathi Satchidananda Swami and Sri Srimannarayana Chinna Jeeyar Swami are expected to take part in the installation ceremony (Sikhara Pratishta) to be held in the last week of June, said the founder and managing trustee Savithala Chakra Bhaskara Rao. The first six floors of the temple are completely dedicated to Goddess Gayatri Devi in different postures and her ‘avatars`. The main base of the temple is being made attractive by installing “Maha Sri Chakra Meruvu”. The Chakras, according to Vedic scriptures, refer to the power points of life force in the human body that circulates energy.

Unique features

The tower will have 1008 small Sri Chakras in Maha Srichakra Meruvu and six floors represent Mooladhara, Swadhistana, Manipoora, Anaahatha, Visudhi and Aagna Chakras of the human body. The “Sahasrara Kamalam” (sacred lotus) will be built in another six floors. Vindhyachalavasini- goddess Durga, Annapoorna, Dattatreya and Saibaba temples will be in first circle along with 25 feet Hanuman and Karthikeya idols.

According to Mr. Chakra Bhaskar, the Gayatri temple will be ‘Sakti Panchayatana” kshetram. In Seventh floor Sahasrara Kamalam with 108 feet height is planned where eight feet copper ‘Kalasam’ will be installed.

The temple was formally inaugurated on April 24, 2012 by the installation of idols by local swamijis.
