Expressing dissatisfaction over the police probe in the alleged suicide of the 21-year-old man, Anmol Chandan, who jumped to his death from the 19th floor of a highrise in Ekta Nagar, Charkop last month, his family has now moved a city court seeking private inquiry into the case under section 156 (3) of Cr PC. The section empowers the court to ask police register an FIR if it finds the case deem for it.

So far the, the Charkop police has refused to register an FIR terming it as a case of suicide. However, the family of the deceased Chandan is keen on an investigation alleging that it's a foul play and there is a strong possibility Chandan being pushed from the building.

"Our doubts come from the fact that Chandan had visited his parents in Lokhandwala barely three hours before the suicide. He looked perfectly normal and borrowed some money from his mother saying that he is planning to go out with friends as it was a Sunday. He even packed his new clothes. Someone who is feeling suicidal won't do all of this a few hours before the big act," said Varun Chander, Chander family's advocate after filing the petition.

The family has been alleging foul play on the part of Chandan's wife Tabbassum Khan with whom he was having discord for some time. As per police's theory a few minutes before the suicide Chandan had sent an sms to his mother saying he is committing suicide as he has found that his wife was cheating on him. The family, however, believes that even this message has been sent to mislead the investigation.

In last one month the family has approached every possible police officer in the area seeking registration of an FIR. "Even if it's a suicide the police should atleast register a case of accidental death or unnatural death and look into the matter. Also should they not share details of the post morterm report with the family? Forty days have passed and we have neither been given the report nor told anything about its content," Chander added.

As per the family, Chanadan and Khan married in September last year after having known each other for ten years. However, lately Chandan started suspecting Khan of cheating on him which led to discord between the two leading to separation.

Chander's mother Reshma has also written a letter to Prime minister Narendra Modi seeking help.

Police alleged that deceased was drunk but did not collect his viscera and sent it for analysis to confirm it
