NAGPUR
: On the lines of corporate companies, the
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has come up with Key Result Area (KRA) for its departments aiming improvement in civic services. The move is seen as pre-exercise of the Right to Services Act which is set to be implemented by the
state government in the coming days.
Municipal commissioner
Shravan Hardikar has prepared the KRA for all the departments. First, the
civic chief obtained the proposed KRA from heads of all departments.
He held a meeting with all heads and set KRA for each department.
“Services will improve along with dignity of the NMC if output is the target and not input. There has to be target-oriented work along with timebound programme. Therefore KRA has been planned,” he said.
Giving an example, Hardikar said reduction in high water losses in percentage is important than increase in number of leakages found and tapped. “The next era will be of Right to Services Act. NMC has to raise its standards of services for compliances of the Right to Services Act. Therefore KRA has been set for each department. Head of each department will set up KRA for respective staffers in the department,” he said.
However, Hardikar is yet to plan gains and losses for the officials and staffers in case they succeed or fail to perform their KRAs. NMC sources told TOI that action will be taken in case any department fails to meet the targets within time.
“There will be no gains in case any department manages to perform according to KRA. It is not part of KRA as its responsibility of each and everyone at the NMC to perform according to the citizens’ expectations,” the sources said.
